Promise Ride 2016

On Saturday, my Uncle Les and I volunteered to photograph the first Promise Ride with Susan G. Komen Maryland and I was so blessed to be a part of the event.  There were about 120 bike riders who participated in one of two rides, the first 65 miles and the second 34 miles.  There is no way I could bike either distance, so I am very proud of all the riders who took this upon themselves to help raise funds to cure breast cancer!  It was touching to stand side by side with so many people whose lives have been affected by breast cancer.  There were survivors, loved ones of those who have battled with cancer, and riders who joined to honor those who have passed.  Their stories were inspirational and full of courage.  Standing at the finish line, with families cheering on their loved ones as the riders crossed the finish line, was the highlight of my day.  This was the inaugural Promise Ride in Maryland and it was exciting to be a part of it!  All the coordinators did an amazing job putting the event together and it was a wonderful success.  I am excited to see this fundraising opportunity grow and hopefully become an event that is held in other states as well.
